HMC meets urgent health needs
with more hours
HUTCHINSON, Minn. - Beginning April 1, Hutchinson
Medical Center (HMC) has extended the hours for Urgent
Care. These longer hours mean better access to immediate
health care for those who are unable, or do not wish to wait
for an appointment with their regular doctor. It is a direct
response to meet the current needs of patients.

Jim Lyons, HMC administrator states, “By keeping the patient and
their needs at the center of our decision making,
we are able to find common ground and develop solutions.”

Urgent Care treats medical problems that aren’t
emergencies, but may require care within 24 hours, such
as fevers, earaches, cuts, or sprains. It is a cost effective alternative
to the ER for care outside of normal business
hours.

During regular Urgent Care hours, patients can expect to receive
care for most urgent needs, including lab tests and allergy shots.
During extended hours (after 5 p.m., and on Saturdays) patients
will have access to urgent care for minor injuries and illness.

HMC has staffed the center with highly qualified health
care providers who specialize in Urgent Care, and are
prepared to meet the demands of the Urgent Care
environment. In addition, being part of HMC provides
access to information and equipment, such as lab testing,
diagnostic X-rays, electronic medical histories, and a close
proximity to an emergency facility, which ensures sound
care, and the welfare of each patient.

Patients may call ahead to make an Urgent Care appointment,
however, appointments are not necessary, and patients are generally
seen in the order they arrive. HMC’s Urgent Care goal is to work
quickly, but thoroughly, to make sure each patient receives the
best quality care.

If a person is uncertain if their condition is an emergency, they are
advised to not take any chances. They should call 911 at once, or
head straight for the ER.

Urgent Care is open Mon. - Thurs., 8 a.m. - 7 p.m.;
Fri. 8 a.m. - 5 p.m.; and Sat. 9 a.m. - noon.

Frequently asked questions
What is Urgent Care?

What services are available in Urgent Care?
During regular business hours, you can expect to receive care for just about any urgent need you may have, including lab tests and allergy shots. During our extended hours (after 5 p.m. and on Saturday) you will have access to immediate care for minor injuries and illness.

How long will I wait to receive care?
Since patients are generally seen in the order they arrive, your wait will vary with the number of people waiting to be seen at that time. Our goal is to work quickly, but thoroughly, to make sure each patient receives the best quality care. If the wait seems long, just remember, we intend to be just as thorough with you!

With Urgent Care, convenience is
the advantage, but quality comprehensive
